Practical Tip: Creating Positive Energy For Your Home
Rituals and intentions are a part of my everyday life. From the way I enjoy my morning matcha, to my morning protection shower, to pulling a card that sets the tone for the day ahead. Everything is energy and we are all experiencing an ever exchanging alchemical process.
But to me, it all begins with my home. My safe space, my sanctuary. My energy begins here and it sets the tone for my day, my world and my life.
Here are some practical ways I add magic, protection and love to my home. And for my apartment girlies, it can be done!
Add Natural Elements
I try to add as much greenery into my life as possible. I add plants, buy myself flowers and add as much natural energy into my space. They’re alive, thriving, giving us the most important element of life, air! I also love using plants and herbs with symbolic meanings, such as lavender (for calmness), rosemary (for protection), rose (for self love).
Lighting and ambience
If you know me, you know I never use the overhead lights after 5pm. After sunset, I choose warm, calming lighting. I love using candles, soft warm lamps, red lights and string lights (my inner child is so happy here).
Use sound and scent
Ignite the senses further by incorporating sound in your home. Play ambient or instrumental music that aligns with the mood you want to create. I also have a little bell I use that I ring when I feel the energy is stagnant or stuck. I ring it in little corners of the house where stale energy often lives.
If you know me, I love fire and scents, and using incense enhances my mood and creates the calm, loving atmosphere I crave. My favourites are Frankinscene, patchouli and palo santo.
Create sacred spaces
Before I really embraced my spirituality, I didn’t realise I was creating “mini altars” in and around my home. They were mini sacred spaces with some of my favourite and most special things. From plants, to herbs to crystals to affirmation cards. Creating a sacred altar space can help anchor us and create a focal point when we are meditating or connecting with the divine. Some things you can add to your altar: candles, crystals, affirmations, oracle cards, statues, incense, personal talismans and any other items that are of important significance to you.
Books and Knowledge
My TBR list is so long and you can often find me out and about buying new books. But I’m happy to own this. I love using books that are meaningful and uplift my mood as displays, creating towers on the floor or in places that I see often (my bedside table, dining room table, coffee table). I also have a stack of oracle cards I rotate through depending on the period of my life. They are usually quite aesthetically pleasing and I love having these on display.
Declutter and cleanse
I find myself going through a big cleanse and decluttering phase (especially around the full moon). This helps keep the energy flowing. A tidy space = a tidy mind. I like to add an extra touch by using sage to clear negative energy and using palo santo to welcome positive energy.
